"You see things as they are and ask, 'Why?' I dream things as they
never were and ask, 'Why not?'" George Bernard Shaw
A simple layout for me but yet not so simple for One Little Word. I really like the simplicity. I got to play with some ZVA creative products including those felt flowers and some cool crystals. Also on the layout are some cool Purple Onion Designs stamps, one brand new. That stellar butterfly has 4 butterflies, this one is the largest. Of course i played with some glimmering mists and my stamps. I am going to show you some tips/techniques i used to create it!
I embossed the background with Late 1800's stamp and some black American Crafts Zing (that stuff is amazing). I then added the butterfly stamp using the following techniques.
Supplies:
- Stamps
- Glimmering Mists/Spray ink
- versamark or embossing ink
- Clear Embossing Powder
- White cardstock
i picked out some colors of blues & greens. I know they won't turn to mud (Complimentary colors will..) I use one of those boxes that kits comes in to spray my ink onto the stamp so it doesn't get everywhere. I take my purple onion stamps and use some adhesive & stick it right to my clear blocks. I love these stamps for the details in the image.
Spray your ink right onto the stamp. it's ok if you get over-spray, i promise it washes off easily. I loaded this one up and your can see how the colors overlap.
Turn the stamp over carefully and press into the cardstock. With the heavy mist, it gives it an almost tie-dye look to it.
Try stamping it again for another fun effect without reloading the mists.
I told you it washes off easily.
Now it's time to play around with this process. As Emeril would say, let's kick it up a notch. Grab your embossing ink. I love versamark. it just clings to the image and makes other inks cling too.
you can see with the versamark on the stamp it really defines the stamp image.
Now lets do the same thing only this time add a little clear embossing ink.
Can you tell i am having fun playing? I can't wait to use some of these images on pages & cards. Here are some cards i finished up today:

and i have some cool news for you.... there are some giveaways on the Purple Onion Blog for these and other new stamps ... before you can purchase them! Have fun playing along.
