snow daze

I just love the snow.  Good thing too because it has been snowing all day here.   About 10 inches so far.  But it is still snowing.  We are expecting it to snow through the night & part of the day tomorrow.  School is already canceled.  I braved the elements today to get some items we needed.  I think tomorrow i will stay at home.  Maybe get in some snowball battles with the kids.  Build a snowman.  Sip Hot Chocolate.  And enjoy the serene setting.

1. The crickets sing, when you wish upon a star.
2. Be you wherever you are.
3. I want to get far away from the flu season.
4. Three weeks in Italy with family & my best friend; this was a dream. Sigh, wish i could do it again.
   
5. But as for me, i want to see beauty in every day life.
6. Florida I come from, Colorado i stay.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep, tomorrow my plans include a little shopping, a little crafting, a little baking and Sunday, I want to sew some, i miss it!

Word Up: Courage

no that's not the new word over at One Little Word.  Instead there is a note from me, letting the scrapbook world know that OLW is letting go.  It takes courage.   It has been a part of me for more than 2 1/2 years.   I have poured my heart, my thoughts, my words, my mad organizational skills, and many hours into that blog.  It is hard to say goodbye.

So why the change? It has been coming for a while now.  It takes a lot of work to run that blog.  Time that has taken away from some of the things i value in my life, including quality family time.  And it is time to rearrange priorities.  Courage.  I don't like disappointing people, which is why it has taken me so long to take those final steps.  I didn't want to disappoint the team.  Honestly i think about half of them are a little relieved a little, for they too are refocusing their priorities.  All of them have been extremely encouraging even if we all are sad.  This is why i love them.  This is why i truly call them friends.  They are my scrap family.  and i didn't want to disappoint the wordsters.  They too mean so much to me.  To read their stories, to see them take leaps with us, to see their growth.  I can't tell you what that means to me.  and I truly hope they will continue to celebrate the power of their words.

I am a go all the way girl or not at all.  And i felt i wasn't giving my 100%.  That made me disappointed in myself.  Who knows what the future holds.  Maybe once things get settled down in my life, i can refocus my energies back into OLW.  However it is with courage that i say i have to do what is best for me.   And listen to my inner voice.

Fancy Pants + some Two peas fonts.  I love that this is a Halloween layout without being too Halloweeny.  Jayme & Lexi cracked me up that day, giggling and trying on the masks.

Love the little dude's eyes.  They are chocolate through and through.  Playing with paint.

I love these photos of the kids.  These two can be best of friends, united against the parents, or at eat other, complaining and picking at each other. 

and finally a tone or tone layout for my very special baby sis.  I can't believe she has really been gone for 8 months.  There are times i just want to pick up the phone and call her.  I wanted to make sure i had a special place for her memorial card.  The butterfly card opens up to a beautiful picture of her and a loving dedication.

updating things...

slowly recuperating.  Most symptoms have subsided.  Now if i could just have my energy & voice back, i would be a happy camper.

in the midst of sickness, family life must keep going

so here are some of the activities from the past week

Choir Concert this past Monday.  Lexi is in two choirs, Chamber (classical vocals - formal black dress) and Sirens ( all female Jazz vocals -sparkle blue outfit).  Lexi had a solo with Sirens.  I am totally biased but she sounded beautiful. Her confidence in her voice has just soared this past year and it makes a mama proud.  

a tradition for High Schools (and universities) here in the US is homecoming.  So many activities rallied around school spirit and welcoming back alumni.  Lexi was extremely involved this year from helping make a float for the parade, doing a skit/dance at the assembly, and playing in a powder puff game (Flag American Football) Juniors vs Seniors (Grade 11 vs grade 12).  Most of the time the game is rigged so that the seniors win as it is their last year in high school.  Lexi kept saying this year was different.  Of course the juniors always want to believe they have a chance.  I was totally wrong and the game wasn't rigged.  The juniors won a whopping 32 - 0. 

 

The homecoming week ends in a semi-formal dance.  Lexi organized a group of girls and her boyfriend David to go out to meet at our house, then dinner, and the dance.  Of course since most of them aren't legal to drive with other teens (a Colorado law) i ended up shuttling them to & fro.  Even though it wore me out, i would do it again and again.  I love that this is the home they come to & love being so involved in her life.

And Anthony & I took advantage of driving them to dinner by staying and having dinner together.  He totally cracks me up.  It was fun to get some one on one time with the little dude.  

and lastly... i made the little dude pull out name for the photo book.

it's Friday

and i am on the mend.  a little more energy.  a little more appetite.  and one successful night of being nourished.  I thank you all for the well wishes.  I know i still need lots of rest & lots of water but it feels good to be heading in the right direction.

I promise to do the RAK winner for the photo book soon!!!

so sick

i have been hit hard.  hit by the flu.

the kids brought it into the house.

i took care of them.  got them back to health.

and then it took me down

finally went to the doctors because i couldn't hold anything down

flu meds plus anti-vomiting meds

i feel weak

i feel tired

trying to take it easy.  blessedly Andy is home this week. 

just going to take it easy for a while.

I am pleased with the way this one turned out.  The girls faces look so good up there.  And the words & type just came together. 

I like this one lots too.  The mists (some Tattered Angels, some Maya) came out really cool.  The photo was taken in Stratford, England at tea time.  YUM.

The fabulous miss jessi.  Doesn't she look stunning in that photo.  I love that we have this phrase together.  Emily helped clarify the vision and gave me the idea for the sun.  We were sneaky together.  When i told jessi we were being sneaky, she told me to tell her.  I simply replied, "So how's the weather?"
