Maya Mist: Earl Grey & Sunflower

I love getting lost in big cities.  I love walking the streets, peeking into windows, shopping the boutiques, eating at the cafes & bistros, seeing the arts, and soaking up the culture urban life has to offer.  And i totally love that Cocoa Daisy's July kit totally reflects that feel in one complete kit titled Urban Loft. I can honestly say this is my new favorite kit.  I love the colors, i love the patterned papers, & i love the add-ons.

The layout above is with my friend Julie, creative genius.  The picture was taking by her awesome mom while we were standing in my studio.  I used the backside of the Basic Grey laser cut paper found in the Telegraph Hill add-on to spray my patterned.  I also used some mist to paint the letters yellow so they would stand up more on my layout.  Those foldies from Sassafrass found in the Theater District sure make it easy to add some flowers to a page.  I added some stickles, buttons, & bling to give them more texture.  I love meandering twine & thought the grey stitches were a nice contrast.  The hanger just makes me laugh so i had to use it with my cheesy title.  I am nothing but consistant in my dorkiness.  I was even snickering as i added it.

American Crafts Guest Designer

So very pleased to be American Crafts Guest Designer.  With so many versatile paper lines in a wide range of colors, how could you not love AC?  I got to play with a variety of lines, including Campy Trails, Margarita, Hello Sunshine, Confetti, & Peachy Keen.  Here's my collection of projects for American Crafts but you want to know more & see the entire mini album, go the their blog. 

Gee Golly, Love for you All

i must admit...

i have been getting back into making cards & totally loving it.  This card was made using Purple Onion's Citrus Set.  I first stamped the images in their perspective colors and then using a paint brush & the same ink, i colored them in.  I had some extra orange slices so i cut them out and then pulled up the edges to give them some extra texture.  The Lily Bee Pear Stationary paper was a perfecting paring (i'm so punny) for these slices.  

This sweet little card was created for the Maya Road Blog.  I love being inspired by so many different things in this wonderful world. I love the trend in home decor right now is to group multiple frames together on a wall.  When i saw these mini scallop Chipboard set, this card came to mind mimicing that same trend.  I must also confess that i love the grey, yellow, & blue color combination.   I started by painting the mini scallops with white paint.  Next i glued scraps of Lily Bee patterned paper to the backside of each frame and adhered them to the charcoal cardstock.  I left an opening for the  flower & trinket pins.  My sentiment is on the inside of the card, letting the outside be the show stopper but i don't know if i can part with this card.  I am seriously thinking of putting it an open frame & hanging it up as decor.

A Loving Heart

MoxieFabWorld (Papercrafts) is featuring some Purple Onion Designs stamps on their blog today.  I love my purple onion stamps.  I love the deep cut of the rubber & the clear images they produce.  On this small 5 in x 4 in canvas, I covered the background with gesso and then gently pushed the stamp into the gesso while it was still wet.  Make sure you rinse the stamp immediately just with water.  The colors in the background a combination of mists & some paints. I stamped two of the heart images on dictionary paper and cut them out.  I plan on hanging this little canvas on my library wall.

Connections

Did you ever have someone you connected with instantly?  I must admit i have been blessed with lots of instant connections but i think martha has been with me the longest.  We met when Lexi was in kindergarten & i tutored her son Jason.  It was like we had known each other for years.  And the laughter has never stopped since.  We have been together through many ups & downs.  She is part of my heart, part of my family. 

and i am beyond happy ecstatic to say she is coming out here for a week in July.  WOO HOO.  i am going to be a mad woman getting all my assignments done so Martha & I can just play. 

The above layout was created last year for Memory Makers Big Book of Scrapbook Pages.  It was one of those pages that came together so quickly.  I totally love this page and it was hard not to share it for a year.  Happily that changes today!

the Weekend + Giveaway Winners

I took the weekend off and it felt so good.  I have been working 7 days a week for so long sometimes it's hard to come out of that mode.  I really needed to relax and just do stuff around the house.  it felt good.  I finally got back into the kitchen and baked some peanut butter & chocolate chip muffins.  I made spinach gnochhi in a gorgonzola cream sauce. it felt good.  Now i am refreshed and ready to work hard this week.  I have lots to do both work wise & volunteer wise.  And I want must finish cleaning the craftrooom/studio.

Dancing in the Rain

 

Maya Mist: dk cornflower, blue hydrangea, avocado, sunflower, plum metallic, charcoal

Just quick a post to show you my new canvas for the Maya Road Blog.  We were asked to create a project showing our favorite Maya Road Project.  Can you guess what mine is?  If you guessed mists, you are correct my friend.  I used gesso & maya mists to create the background of this canvas.  The dictionary cut-outs are umbrella, storm, rain, dance, and rainbows.  I must say i love the little drippy marks running down the canvas.  And the new wellies chipboard album is so cute!  The ribbon at the top was the white organza rose ribbon that i sprayed with dk cornflower mist.  I am pleased with the results.

Here i am!

I have to say all the book work has been catching up to me.  I will freely admit i have been sleeping a bit more.  But then again everything has a way of balancing out since i didn't sleep much during the whole process.  And I know it doesn't look like it but i have been creating lots.  Of course i cannot show you most of it because they are book projects.  But today i am happy to say i do have two Lily Bee projects to share with you.

This layout is up on the Lily Bee blog today with walk through of my process.  It started with that photo and color inspiration, pink, green, blue, green.  Unusually colors for me but i found them in a magazine & just love them. 

This second layout was posted monday on the Lily Bee blog.  Linda asked us to do a end of the school year wrap up page.  My kids are teens so their end of the years tend to be a little different.  But this assignment reminded me how important it is to capture some of their school days too.  In this layout, i tell the story of how this is the last year together for my kids.  It kind of makes me sad to think of it.  I remember Lexi taking Anthony's had and walking him to his kindergarten class.  Time really does fly!

Tomorrow i plan on posting all the photos i have been taking.  I don't know why i didn't think of a weekly wrap up but right now it's sounding brilliant.

Amy Tangerine & American Crafts

I love it when to great things come together, like my friend Amy Tan & American Crafts.  I was so excited when Amy told me of her amazing new adventure.  I love her quirky fun style and know her line is going to be a hit!  She is a gifted artist in so many ways.  I recently purchased the most amazing shirt from her and am ready to order more.  They are incredible tees & i highly recommend them.  And now this?  Over the moon excited for Amy.  She is such a sweet person and deserves all this & more.
