Can you tell what's been on my mind lately? It's been a month since i have seen Andy and one more month until we see each other. I cannot wait. It felt so good creating this layout. It's been awhile since i sat down to tell my family stories. I am going to share with you how it all came together using Sizzix dies & texture fades.
To start this layout, i cut three filmstrip frames using black cardstock. I wasn't sure if i was going to keep them on the layout or just use them as stencils so i adhere them with temporary glue. Next i took my blending tool and rubbed on three shades of blue distress inks. I went in and around the filmstrips so it wasn't even.
I added in some more colors using some oil pastels. I first used an aqua pastel and then after stamping (see below) i added in some yellow.
I added in some stamped layers using Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 Celestrial Arts stamps. I randomly inked the stamp and then stamped it on the filmstrip frame.
I decided to remove two of the filmstrip die-cuts to see the negative space. I wanted to add in a few of the frames back in with some pops of color so i used the die-cut to trace on some patterned paper.
With the background complete, i wanted to make some layers using the texture fades. First i painted some watercolor paper with some acrylic paints and then added in some splats of Maya Road Popsicle Mist. I also added a few drops of watermelon alcohol ink.
Next i used the bubble wrap texture fade to create some texture. I am so very addicted to these fades. I keep adding more and more to my collection.
I cut out some hearts using the primitive hearts die. I knew i was only going to use one on my layout but i didn't know which size i wanted so i cut out both. I have plans for the other heart on another project. I sanded the hearts and use the distress tool to rough up the edges.
I used some archival ink on the Collage Fade and then ran the patterned paper through my Big Shot. Texture + Ink makes me happy.
I cut the patterned paper into two strips and punched the edges with a corner rounder. I then used a distress tool around the edges. The two pieces can be stacked on each other creating more layers with just one piece.
Here's how it all came together. I love all the layers on this layout including the textures. I love the negative spaces peeking through. The stamps, inks, and pastels really worked well together.
I really love all the textures in this layout. I couldn't resist using the filmstrip leftovers on the layout too as my little splatters. I happy the way the layout all came together including the colors. I look at those photos and cannot wait to be with him again! One Month away.
