Do you ever allow yourself a chance to sit down and just create without a rhyme or reason? Do you ever just pick up a tool and see what you can do with it? Sometimes the simplest exercises can have such profound effects. In the podcast last week, Julie & i both talk about creating everyday and how it generates more creative ideas. It seems to me when you take time off, it's harder to get back into it. Just like exercising, the more often you do it, the easier it gets. You start to feel more comfortable with it and can add in new things with less fear. Try it, i dare you. Try creating just a little bit each day.
It doesn't have to be a glorious masterpiece. in fact, go in thinking "i am just playing." Free up your mind from that pressure and just start. simple as that just start. the pages above were created with that notion, to just start. I had these wonderful little stamp sets in my hands from Cocoa Daisy. I admit they were starting to stack up with little or no creative time. so i decided to break out my little journal i picked up in Doha (a girl cannot have too many journals), a black ink pad, and lots of Cocoa Daisy stamps. simple, easy, no pressure. I stamped lots of pages, playing around with combinations. I admit i love the black & white graphic images. I know later on i may add some color, like this one...
just playing around with the days of the week. no direction. i wanted to see them stamped. i stacked them to one side and stamped. then i started adding in more days, here, there, everywhere a day stamp. a couple days later i decided some spray inks would look great on this page along with some paint and journal. simple, easy, effortless.
did you create something today?
