So honored and blessed to be this month's guest designer for Basic Grey. I remember when they first came on the scene with Motifica and Sublime. This company was like nothing else in the industry. It's nice to see they always stay true to who they are but still grow in designs. I love their bold use of graphic patterns and their colors are always fresh. So when sweet Melanie asked, i could hardly resist.
Today i am sharing my connections layout. DUDE. i love the colors on this layout. I admit dipping into pastel colors a bit scare me but this worked for me. Here's why: I combined the pastel colors along with some bright pops of color. I found when i did that, i could hop on board. pastels + me x pops of brights = yes!
To create the look of this layout i used the beautiful 50 Pence paper as my background. I loved the little hints of color already on the paper and wanted to complement it. I added some gesso to the bottom left of the page & top right. I let it dry completely before adding my absolutely favorite Caran d"Arche Neocolor II Aquarelle Artists' Crayons. I colored on and around the gesso and then I brushed water onto the crayons to create this stunning pop of color. A few more layers of Soleil & Clippings and this layout was done. I love it. like really love it. i look at those colors and my heart sings. I will share the rest of my creations throughout the month with some cool tips and a step by step on my creative process.
Until then,
