I have lots of different mediums in my studio, paints, watercolor crayons, pastels, watercolors, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, charcoals, spray inks, etc. You get the idea. Sometimes just keeping track of everything can be overwhelming. So take one day and take stock of your mediums. 1 medium, 1 day. In the above photo i was creating swatches of my tube paint colors. i like to see the color on the white page to know what's in the tube. Sometimes the outside color just doesn't do the inside pigments justice. a simple exercise to keep you organized that can truly spark your creativity.
Or if that isn't your gig, just try taking on one medium on an small page. Here i used my finger to apply little paint circles to my art journal page after doodling the title. Straight out of the tube and on to paper and it felt great. 40 yr olds can finger paint too! i was too impatient to let my doodled title dry completely when i was adding the yellow color in the background. But i like the effect. I like that some of the title is colored in and some of it bare. So now it's your turn. 1 medium, 1 day.
