Still digging into my Vintage Atlas creating on those lovely maps. This piece came out of artful playing and building up layers. This page started off with layers of stencils, gesso, and colors. i used both spray ink and acrylics to build these layers. and then i let it sit awhile until i decided on where it wanted to go.
i added a few more layers of acrylic paint and then the die-cut hearts left over from this valentine's day tag. i dripped some paints down the pages. i sketched in the face, body, and wings with a stabilo pencil. Once she was blocked in, i used a paint brush on the lines to fill it in a bit.
Phase 3 is this girl. i kind of like this alien being. i added colors ot her eyes and face, added more definition to the wings, and deepened her overall lines. i played around with colors of her shadows and highlights. i really liked the direction she was heading.
after sitting a little while longer, i decided to add in hair and more colorful layers. i love the colors of this piece along with her calmness. She knows who she is and knows where she is going. She has a bit of an jane austen feel to her. Letting go and just painting was freeing.
