Hi Everyone! I’m KarenLiz. First, on behalf of my stencil aliens and me, we are honored to be a guest here on Ronda’s blog. Ronda, thank you so much for inviting us.
Okay, yes stencil aliens. If you buy stencils they will come! Go ahead start buying stencils and you will start to hear their voices. When I first started thinking about using stencils I didn’t see very many in my local craft store but I stumbled upon The Crafters Workshop stencils online and I’ve been addicted to them. I blame stencil aliens for my addiction. You know those voices you hear that say “buy them.” Need to blame someone! Stencils are so versatile and now I own quite a lot.
Stencils are stamps for me. I love using them and fussy cutting out the shapes to use on my creations. This creation is no exception.
First I brushed red, green and sparkle acrylic paint on a piece of watercolor paper. No special way just for a colorful background. Using modeling paste and the Picture Perfect stencil (TCW344 6x6) I added the cameras to the paper. Once the modeling paste was dry I cut out each camera. Now I have lots of little cameras to use as embellishments.
With coupon in hand I found two mini albums (7.25” x 4.5”) and bought them for $4 each! This one was actually purple so I used gesso and then white acrylic paint to cover it.
I wanted to add a background so I used the Cosmic Swirl stencil (TCW156 6x6), Picture Perfect stencil (TCW344 6x6), silver, pearl, and gold acrylic paint.
Then I used a tree stencil (source unknown, found in a sale bin) with a mix of gel medium and brown paint to create tree branches across the top. I pulled out my snow mixture and added that to the branches. This is what the album looks like after these steps. I did this on both sides of the album.
Remember all my little cameras? Now it’s time to hang them from the tree. I added string and a red ribbon and used gel medium to attach them to the album. Look how cute!!
Here is the front of the album. I will add a title and year once the album is complete.
I even added the tiny camera to the end of the album. I carry my camera 24/7 but for the holidays I’m going to add my InstaxMini Polaroid camera. With this album, extra film, and a small box of scrapbooking supplies the family can join me in creating pages. This will be my new family tradition.
No matter what holidays you celebrate pictures show your traditions, your family and friends, the funny and even the not so funny moments. These moments captured in pictures can be truly magical. What pictures will you take this holiday season?
Thank you so much for stopping by!
My name is Karenliz. I’m the daughter of an artist and always told myself I couldn’t draw or do any type of art. I found rubber stamps when my daughter was four and never looked back. Now an empty-nester, I have a need to create every day. I’m addicted to stencils, rubber stamps, paper, inks and paint. No music in my art room; I play Sci-Fi movies to keep my creativity flowing. I love photography and I keep my camera with me 24/7. Stencil aliens speak to me and make me buy lots of stencils. Yes, they are real. I love tea, S’mores and caramel. Lately I’m thinking my art room is worth more than my house looking at all my art supplies. I love all types of art. I can walk in an art museum and lose complete track of time until a guard is escorting me out the door. That’s me!
I love that KarenLiz is starting a new tradition with this adorable holiday album. It's so easy to transform any album with stencils making them uniquely yours. I hope you found inspiration with KarenLiz and the rest from the guest bloggers from this week.
