Cheyenne, Anthony's girlfriend, has been taking a pottery class at her high school. You know i always want to encourage anyone in their artistic explorations and she is no exception. i have been blessed with Cheyenne adding to my functional pottery collection. Here are a few of the pieces she has created lately.
Cheyenne has been creating by throwing (wheel) and building. The above pitcher is a thrown piece. She has been working hard at different shapes and her glazing techniques. i love the blue drips down this piece along with the pops of reddish brown underneath the glaze.
This small bowl is one of my favorites. Not only is it the perfect little size, two hand wrap lovely around it, the color is AWESOME. Love the complementary colors on the inside and the crackle is so cool on the outside.
Cheyenne gave me this plate for christmas last year. i LOVE the simplicity of that little branch in the corner. It actually reminds me of a practice piece of art i created for one of my classes. i cannot decide if i want to use it or simple display it. It's been sitting on my island so i can stare at it daily.
This usable juicer is a beautiful example of functional art. She threw the whole piece and then hand carved the top. The coloring is just stunning. i especially love the brown peeking through the juicing spirals.
This cool bowl is another hand thrown piece. It's one of those pieces that just makes me happy. i love all the little drip marks/polka dots in the random pattern. i wish you could touch it for the texture is so much fun.
She has many other pieces that i should share with you some other time!
