After Martha & i spent 5 days at Seabrook, we headed up the Pacific Coast to stay outside the Hoh Rainforest/Olympic National Forest in some cabins at the Kalaloch Lodge. It's a great central location on the coast, just 8 miles from Ruby Beach. This lodge is pretty isolated so i wasn't sure about the restaurant on the premise.
i was pleasantly surprised not only by the flavor but by the food. It was imaginative and harvested from local organic farms. We ordered this amazing spinach salad every day we were there and the fresh berries were so tasty. i wish i had one right now.
We headed down the beautiful path that lead to the beach right next to our cabins. There were so many driftwood logs nestled up against the cliff wall. We loved seeing the tidal pools with all the different sea life. Such a pretty walk along the beach.
We also visited one of our favorite beaches, Ruby Beach. It's the beach we stood on in 2008 and vowed to come back. Martha & i took a long long walk on the beach, laughing, chatting, and soaking in the salty air. It was truly healing to be on that beach without a schedule alongside my best friend.
After dinner we spent the night back on the beach. A chilly beach is perfect for a fire. Being from Colorado it was strange to me that we were allowed to have a fire on the beach, but i LOVED it. They even provided us fire wood in our cabins. The crackling of the fire with the waves hitting the shore is a perfect combination of sounds. The driftwood also makes a unique color fire which is so cool.
