Less than 24 hours to explore Brussels but i was determined to see all i could in this cool European City. With Andrew as my tour guide and constant companion, sight-seeing was an awesome experience.
After visiting some chocolate shops we made our way over to Grand Place, the central square in Brussels. This square has beautiful guildhalls and the town hall.
This town hall with its gothic designs towers over the square. Every little detail is so very cool and a sight to see.
The opulenant guildhalls are stunningly ornate. The gold details on the buildings are majestic and shine beautifully in the sunshine.
As night began to fall all around us we begain searching for a tasty place to tempt our palletes while we sit and soaked in the atmosphere around us.
Our appetites were appeased with a large pot of steaming mussels. We sat in our quaint little restuarant and people watched as people walked up & down the streets.
At this time of year the Christkindlmarkt or Weihnachtsmarkt fills the streets selling food, crafts, and drinks. There's a ferris wheel, ice skating, and music all around. A very cool experience and i wished we spent more time there.
It was a chilly evening but i was with Andrew so my heart was overflowing with love and warmth. We had lots of fun just being together. We both know we don't get enough time like this, just the two of us.
We decided to head back to the hotel after a long night of walking through this beautiful city. We peeked in a few store windows as we wandered back to the train station.
i heard the music first and then turned to look down the alley. i grabbed Andrew and spun him around to see it. We had to go back to the Grand Place to see this breath-taking light & music show.
i cannot even begin to adequately describe this moment, standing in this old square watching this awesome light and music show with thousands of other people. We were all mesmorized by the display. i have been blessed with the gift of travel, the gift of wandering toes, and have seen lots of cool things in all my journeys. This one i will really treasure in my heart. While it's not the same as standing there, I did find a video that captures the show beautifully.
After staying here for a bit, we made our way to the train station and to the hotel. Andrew & i left early morning and headed back to our apartment in Doha where we would be for the remainder of my time.
