Martha & i spent some lovely days in the cabins at the Kalaloch Lodge. It's a great central location on the coast, perfect for our day trip into the Hoh Rainforest. It's an amazing Rainforest filled with lush greenery and gigantic trees.
The drive all around the Olympic Peninsula is really beautiful. It is abundant with layers of green foliage. It's definitely magical and other worldly. i loved driving all around there just to see the scenery and be in awe of it.
Our trip into the Hoh forest was incredible. We decided to hike into the forest, have lunch, and then head to Rialto Beach near La Push. It was a bit of a rainy day but thanks to all the foliage, we really didn't feel it on our hike. It was so beautiful and good to get out into the woods. We then took a lunch break and watched the fog & rain roll in a bit more.
After our hike into the forest, we headed to Rialto Beach just outside of La Push. i couldn't believe this beach. It is incredible. We wished we would have hit this beach sooner in the day to explore it even more. Martha was teaching me how to read the waves so i could get a great shot of them. i was squatting down taking photos and she was standing over me telling me "not this one, not this one." i should have known something was wrong when she got quiet. Next thing i knew she was halfway up the beach yelling "run" as the tide came in quicker and bigger than we expected. i managed to get myself up into a standing position before the incoming wave soaked me up to my knees. Martha and i were laughing so hard at our unexpected swim. We weren't the only ones caught in those unexpected waves. You can click HERE to see those waves in action.
