In 2009 i started reviewing my favorite layouts of that year. It has been a great way to reflect on my style and how it's changed, on what i accomplished, and also helps me fine tune my direction for the upcoming here. i began reviewing last year all the different projects i take on for the year: tags, art journal pages, etc. i've broken them down into different blog posts, last week was scrapbook pages, and today is art journal pages.
So here are my favorites of 2013
In no particular order
What i love: the white space with the color explosion. i love the drip marks and all the layers underneath.
What i love: tTe collage layers underneath. The mix of medias including acrylic paint, acrylic inks, india inks, etc.
What i love: The depth of emotion in this piece. i love her face and the white space all around her.
What i love: The layers of color in the background but it still feels open. The pop of blue on the pages along with the black lines.
What i love: The map in the background with all the colors around the page. i love how the elements all come together with the giant heart in the center.
What i love: The simplicity of this page. The combination of colors and the stamped images are just lovely.
What i love: The big bold pie chart in the center of the page along with the rainbow of colors. i love how nothing is contained in the pie chart and explodes out of it, as if all things are possible.
What i love: Mostly monochromatic page with a simple message to always keep growing, learning, and challenging myself.
What i love: This is me. i love how i brought together all the pieces of my art together in one piece. Love the colors and all the details, scribbles, scratches, drawings, pie chart, etc.
What i love: the minialistic approach to the page. The scratch marks in the gesso with the colorful drip marks. The small photo with the printed text.
It has been great to look back at my work over the past year. It shows me my growth, what things i like, what things i want to change, and where i want to go.
