Todays art is a door of possibilities from my Week of Art at Create Mixed Media. This may be my favorite piece of this week of art. I admit i am a bit fascinated by doors. I love how they can tell a story & keep secrets. I love seeing how different countries adorn their doors both with color, door knockers, and handles. I love seeing vintage doors with layers of peeling paints, old door knobs, and keyholes. This is my homage to those doors & stories that bring me so much inspiration.
This piece has many layers of paint, watercolor crayons, glitter watercolors, oil pastels, and wax. I love the peeling layers of paint showing this door's story. The keyhole & door handle came out just like i wanted. Can you see the three different nineteens in the piece?
Today we are on our way to Doha, Qatar to be with Andy for Christmas. The kids & i are flying there via houston. Our flight from Houston to Doha will be anywhere from 16 - 17 hours. It's been a busy week getting ready to go see him but we are super excited to be there. It will be a minimalist Christmas for us, focusing on family & time together. We are bring a few items to decorate his apartment making most of the items while we are there. I am really excited about the possibility of a low key family Christmas.
